Lake of the Woods Water Sustainability Foundation

Hi RLPOA members,

Megan Mills International Watershed Coordinator for the Lake of the Woods Water Sustainability Foundation sent us this email with some great links to already presented and upcoming “Ask the Experts” series presentations.

From Megan,

Happy Friday and happy Halloween! Many things in the world are certainly spooky these days, but I wanted to reach out and share a few things that might bring some relief. Matt asked that I forward our Lake of the Woods Water Sustainability Foundation Newsletter email to all of you in case anyone has missed it, specifically to highlight some of the upcoming webinars we have running. Some of you may be aware that we are hosting our Ask an Expert Series, an opportunity to learn about topics in our watershed and ask the presenters questions.

I highly recommend checking out the sessions we just did, which are available to watch on YouTube (see below, click on ‘view now’). I learned so much about experiments going on at ELA in relation to Bitumen and plastics. Dr. Chelsea Rochman’s presentation ended with a lot of great examples of how resource agencies and communities can become involved with plastic monitoring and engagement. You can see our upcoming episodes in the email below (and in this email), with links to register.

You can also see in the newsletter that we are seeking abstracts for the Forum next March and nominations for awards.

Lastly, I also want to highlight to the CAG that Teika (Executive Director of LOWWSF) received the 2026 Clean50 Honour, which recognizes all the amazing work she has done in advancing international water and climate diplomacy through her work with LOWWSF. I am proud to get to work and learn alongside her! You can read more about it here: Teika Newton Receives 2026 Clean50 Honour 🙂
